Steve Kinkade, 62, passed away Tuesday, June 24, 2009, when he succumbed to heart failure.

Memorial service: 10 a.m. Saturday, July 11, at Christ United Methodist Church, 3301 Sycamore School Road, Fort Worth. Interment: 1 p.m. Saturday in Shannon Rose Hill Cemetery.

Steve was born Oct. 4, 1946, and lived in Fort Worth until his passing. Steve was well respected throughout Texas in the rodeo and horse business for a number of years. Although Steve was an active competitor in steer wrestling, primarily during his high school and college days, he won several events and titles during the 1970s. He kept involved in rodeos and the horse industry until his death. He worked for a number of years for the R.L. Sweeny Lumber Co. in Fort Worth.

An avid golfer, Steve played in and supported many charity golf events by donating his time and money to needy causes. Steve worked very hard during the late 1980s and throughout the 1990s with several other local cowboy friends and PRCA members on a project called the Cowboy Open Golf Tournament. This event benefited rodeo cowboys who received injuries during the Fort Worth Stock Show, as well as other PRCA Rodeo events d in and around the Fort Worth and Dallas areas. Steve was very active in his church, Christ United Methodist in Fort Worth, where he volunteered for many church activities.

Survivors: His loving companion and soulmate, Patsy Gallion and a son, Ryan Kinkade, of McAllen. He also leaves behind his sisters, Susan, Sandra and Sherry, all of Keller and Fort Worth; and his loving Pomeranian puppies, Muffin and CoCo. He is also survived by many close friends, who will miss him dearly.
