Marital status: Married

Occupation: Retired
Comment: I was Taliaferro up until Nov of '64.  I graduated as Wilson.  Four years later, it was Fuller,  four years after that it became Harris, and has been so for 35 years.  I found Dan at Leonards in '74 when he bought my department when Dillards bought Leonards.  He had 2 children, a boy 12 and a girl 14, at the time.  We never had any children.  He is retired too now, of course, and we live on his son's 70 +/- acre farm down south in Maypearl.  His son, also Dan, and his wife Patricia, own 2nd Opinion Auto Center in Haltom City.  My step-daughter Krystal and her husband Steven, live in Garland.  She is a Minister and grief counselor.  I didn't think I had much to tell, but I guess I did.  Not sure now about the reunion, but will try.

Comment: Been married to the most wondeful woman. Lois, since 1973.  She is a Registered Nurse, who spent many years in the hospital environment as a cardiovascular nurse.  Today, Lois is an elementary school nurse.  We have only one daughter, Sabrina, born in 1985.  She was a high school cheerleader, graduated from Texas A&M University (Whoop), who taught math and science in an elementary school.  She has since left teaching and is a Communication Specialist with Pier 1 Imports.  She is married with a 5-year old step-daughter and a 3-year old daughter of her own.  I love my grand girls.

About me.   After high school, I attended NTSU for one year where Gary Harbin and I were roommates in the West Dorm.  After goofing off for a year, I joined the US Army and trained as a helicopter mechanic.  I subsequently spent 22 months, churning up the skies of Vietnam in a Huey Helicopter.  During this time, I crossed paths with Kenny Lasater and served with some of the most couragous men I will ever know and will remember them for the rest of my life.  I did survive with all my body parts intact.

Now days, I have worked for Pier 1 Imports here in the Fort Worth home office since 1980 (that's 35-years and counting).  I have no immediate plans to retire.  Lois and I live in Aledo west of Fort Worth.

I have enjoyed working on the Reunion Committee and I have learned more about some of you than I was ever aware of in high school.  I'am so glad to have reconnected with all of you.

Comment:    I moved to Dallas and took my sweet time getting through college, finally graduated from SMU with a psych degree in '76.

In December of '78 I headed to Key West, spent seven years there, and  had a lot of adventures on and off the water. It was a little different from inland Texas. Worked when I had t
o at this and that, most fun as an unpaid beach bunny/sailor and, eventually, director for Big Brothers/Sisters and counselor for Florida Keys Community College. Had a great romance and ran for public office...the Keys being the Conch Republic, "lost" by six votes.

After that much fun, ended up back in Texas and rested up for a few years. Went back to school at UNT and finished up with a Master's degree in counseling and became a Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas.
Now in private counseling practice in Fort Worth, which I love and find very satisfying.

Irene Jackson and I have kept up with each other through the years. She has been a great supportive friend and a heckuvan adventurer in her own right. I'm so proud of her. She's been a plaintiff's attorney and judge, among other lawyerly positions, and will soon be a full-fleged Methodist minister with a Master of Divinity degree from my old alma mater, SMU.

In the same month I ran into both SueBeth McClure and John Hastings, so that must be a sign to visit the LDB Class of '65 reunion.

Everywhere I've been, I've always been an (unpaid) advocate for the little guy and involved in liberal politics. Right now I'm working hard in support of the public option for health insurance reform. I want to encourage y'all to do whatever you can in this fight...not ok to have 50,000,000 (I think that's about 1 in 6  *!?*) Americans without health insurance.
